Hats on for Heads On

Put your Hats on for Heads on and show kindness to a friend you will never meet this Festive Season!

Heads On launches their first 'Hats On for Heads On' Festive Campaign, encouraging the community to sport their finest festive hat whilst supporting inpatients in mental health services this holiday season whilst fundraising for the charity. This can be done anytime throughout the festive period, so you can join in at a staff dress down day, remotely via a team meeting, at the office Christmas party, drinks with friends or from your sofa!

This year, Heads On's Festive Campaign is targeted around 'Showing kindness to a friend you'll never meet', focusing on how kind donations can help an unknown friend in need of some joy at Christmas time. Due to the ongoing pressures of the pandemic, many inpatients in Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust's services over the Festive period will be isolated and away from their friends and family. Heads On want to support inpatients, by providing the best possible Christmas this year and for future Christmases.

"Every year we have inpatients in our services that will be with us over the holiday season. The festive season is well documented to be a potentially difficult time for all people, and even more so for people who may have deteriorating mental health.

For someone with dementia, or suffering with psychosis, for young people with anxiety and depression, for people with a learning disability or autism, imagine the challenge. A hospital admission at this time of year could mean no visits from friends and family. It could mean struggling to understand why no-one comes to see you, why you can't socialise with fellow patients unless socially distanced or wearing masks. Imagine how confusing and frightening this could be. Imagine how your mental health could deteriorate further as a result.

With the help of our community Heads On is aiming to make this and all future Christmases for inpatients at SPFT as jolly and hopeful as possible." remarked Abi Harley, Community and Individuals Fundraiser at Heads On.
