Flourish - Nature recovery for people with severe mental illness

Heads On are delighted to present, Flourish: Nature Recovery for people living with severe mental illness (SMI), a report pulling together research and consultation with people with recent lived experience of mental health inpatient hospitals exploring nature recovery in inpatient mental health hospitals.

In Autumn 2023 Heads On commissioned Recovery Partners to undertake user-led research into nature recovery for people with SMI. The research was intended to directly inform how NHS mental health services incorporate natural recovery into their services, including the new Combe Valley Hospital in East Sussex. The research, and resulting report was funded by Natural England and Heads On.

This is particularly timely due to the development and building of the new Combe Valley Hospital in Bexhill, a new state of the art mental health hospital in beautiful natural surroundings which will replace the existing Department of Psychiatry. You can find out more about the hospital here: Combe Valley - a new mental health hospital for Bexhill :: Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

To launch the report, we hosted a webinar on 16th December 2024. If you weren't able to join us, you can watch the webinar here:
