CAMHS Home Treatment Team raise over £1,300

Our fantastic Kent and Medway Home Treatment Team (CAMHS HTT) have raised an amazing £1,300 for Heads On by climbing Mount Snowdon on Saturday 6 June 2015.

The team braved cross winds of over 70mph and poor visibility to reach the summit of the highest mountain in England and Wales.

Julie Kirby, team leader, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have raised over £1,300 for young people in Kent & Medway and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”

“It was a far trickier climb than we imagined thanks to the high winds and we spent a lot of our time simply trying not to fall off! The whole team did brilliantly and the money we have raised will make a massive difference to the young people we care for.”

The team’s day job sees them providing a 24/7 service supporting young people in crisis and helping them to remain at home as an alternative to hospital admission.

They had identified that young people receiving treatment often have times when they are waiting around which can be a traumatic and stressful time for the young person and their family and carers.

Having identified a wish list of items with young people that would make this wait more bearable the team decided to climb Mount Snowdon to raise the funds needed to make the wish list a reality.

The money raised will be used to purchase items from the wish list, including iPads and board games, which will help to engage young people during what is often a critical point in their recovery.
