Brilliant Brighton Marathon runners brave cold winds for Heads On

An amazing team of 5 runners braved the cold winds on Sunday 17th April, to take on the mammoth challenge of the Brighton Marathon. Each and every one of them completed the iconic challenge, racing 26.2 miles and raising a jaw-dropping £4,000 between them.

Two of our runners ran for the Woodland Project run for families cared for by the CAMHS Learning Disability / Family Intensive Support service. The Project allows families to get out into nature and share experiences such as fire making, building shelters, cooking and singing together. These days allow the entire family to relax, spend quality time together and meet other families in similar situations.

Daniel raised over £1,000 for the service, a cause close to his heart as his wife works for the team. After visiting the project to see the great work they do first-hand, he had this to say:

“Parents frequently comment on how they and their kids love coming to the woods. One parent said their child was the happiest they've ever seen them. Another described how they've seen them doing things they've never done before. The children's confidence is built-up, and they're free to relax.”

Patrick ran specifically to raise money for a compost toilet that can be used by families attending the Woodland Project and has raised over £600.

“I'm running the Brighton Marathon 2016 in support of a fantastic initiative called The Woodland Project, which Ruth (my amazing wife) is involved in. Your support will go towards a new compostable toilet and changing area to make these days more comfortable for everyone!” – Patrick, Brighton Marathon runner.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our runners for taking on this incredible challenge and making these wonderful projects possible.
