Worthing Cricket Club raises nearly £400 for Letter of Hope project

A huge Heads On thank you to Worthing Cricket Club and chairman Tim Dunn for raising nearly £400 at their End of Season party!

Proceeds from their raffle, with prizes donated from Sussex County Cricket Club, will go to the Heads On Suicide Prevention fund. This fund is currently being used for the Letter of Hope, a Trust iniative for suicide prevention. The Letter of Hope is a letter written by those who have experienced suicidal thoughts or who have attempted suicide, reminding those who may also be having these thoughts that they are valued, urging them to have courage and seek help. In the wake of World Suicide Prevention Day, projects like these have never been so powerful. Heads On are looking to fundraise more for this project, and would appreciate any support however big or small. The coordinaters for this project are looking to extend its reach further - they would like to adapt the Letter of Hope for those bereaved by suicide - existing work suggests that they are three times more likely to die by suicide than the general population. They would also like to create a Letter of Hope for young people, as well as improving the Letter of Hope website and creating z-cards to hand out to GPs, universities and taxi drivers.

Thank you again to Worthing CC, and watch this space for more news on the Letter of Hope project.
