The Festive Season at Heads On

The festive season can be an exceptionally hard time for our service users, particularly since the global pandemic. For our inpatients, being away from their family and friends can make what is often described as the 'most wonderful time of the year' a really difficult one.

This year, we are focusing on the theme of showing kindness to a friend you'll never meet, highlighting how your generosity can help an unknown friend in need of some kindness. There are various ways in which you can show your kindness through our campaign.

For someone with dementia, or suffering with psychosis, for young people with anxiety and depression, for people with a learning disability or autism, imagine the challenge. A hospital admission at this time of year could mean no visits from friends and family. It could mean struggling to understand why no-one comes to see you, why you can't socialise with fellow patients unless socially distanced or wearing masks. Imagine how confusing and frightening this could be. Imagine how your mental health could deteriorate further as a result.

The festive season is well documented to be a potentially difficult time for all people, and even more so for people who may have deteriorating mental health.

We want to make our patients stay as hopeful and joyful as possible and we need YOU to help us provide the best possible Christmas for patients using our services.

All money raised will help us to continue to provide Christmas items this year and in the future.

Please donate anything you can; show kindness to a friend you'll never meet and help Heads On provide the best Christmas possible. Please find our JustGiving page here.

We are sending out Christmas Cards to inpatients in SPFT services over the Festive Period, and we need your help to do so. If you are interested in writing an uplifting festive message on our postcards, please get in touch with us here. We will send you a pre-addressed envelope and card (see our amazing designs!), just let us know what design you would like and your details.

We are also offering the opportunity for people to make a donation in lieu of sending Christmas cards this year. If this is something you'd be interested in, please download our social media posts (postbox and presents design) and share your kindness amongst friends and family.
