On Sunday 12th July, the sun shone for Heads On's Rainbow Race, a virtual race that anyone could take part in, choosing the pace and how they wanted to race! Lots of people got involved, making use of the glorious weather to walk, run, cycle, swim and even dance!
Many people ran various distances, including 5k and 10k. Heads On's very own Jennie did a half marathon. With the sun beating down on her, Jen completed it in an astonishing 1 hour and 52 minutes! Others opted for a sunny walk; SPFT Chief Executive Sam walked in the countryside with colleague Louise. Sam's dog Lola, ever the fundraiser for Heads On, also accompanied them on the walk.
Other fundraisers decided to cycle. SPFT member of staff Becky cycled 50 miles from Upper Beeding to Bognor Regis, AND back! Jonathan, another member of staff, swam along the Bognor shoreline.
Meanwhile, a range of disco hits and absolute classics (along with some terrible singing!) could be heard in Worthing, as Heads On's Antonia and Emma, along with Ant's sister Jo, danced for 3 hours straight in the sunshine!
This was all to raise money for the Heads On Covid-19 Relief Fund, which will help SPFT service users and staff who have been hit hardest by the pandemic. At time of writing, well over £1,300 has been raised. You can donate to this fund by clicking here. Remember, CEO Sam did say she would dye her hair purple if we reach the target…
