Pitch perfect fundraising by local golf society

The Dog & Bacon Golf Society, based in Horsham, has raised a fantastic £800 for mental health research through monthly golf competitions and an annual charity raffle.

Margaret Brice, from Springfield Park Horsham, captain of the Golf Society, has bi-polar and nominated the research unit for charity of the year: “As a bipolar sufferer myself, I am only too aware of the devastating impact that mental illness can have on your life and how it can strike anybody at any time. Over the past few years, I have received wonderful treatment from the staff at New Park House who have helped me to learn to live with my condition and rebuild my life.”

“When I was nominated as captain of the Dog and Bacon Golf Society I was keen that any money raised should go to a local mental health cause. At the same time I read about the ADHD & Mental Health Research Unit at New Park House headed by Dr Sanjay Jain. With the approval of the golf committee, the unit became our nominated charity for 2013 and we were delighted to raise £800.”

The monies raised will support the research work of the ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and Mental Health Research Unit at New Park House in Horsham which is run by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
