Marathon runner smashes target for dementia services
If you're going to take up the huge challenge of your first Marathon, it makes a massive difference if you know your efforts are for such a great cause.
Jonathan West, a Senior Nurse at Sussex Partnership, ran his first marathon in April to raise money for Dementia Services. Specifically, the £1734 he's raised for Heads On is to buy Bluetooth audio equipment for patients, families, carers and staff to use to help patients connect to the music they love, to enhance their wellbeing and experience of being in hospital.
The months of training in the dark and cold paid off for Jonathan: 'It was a great day and a wonderful feeling crossing the line. I've been really humbled by the generosity of colleagues, friends and family. My total is amazing as the dementia wards will be able to invest in good quality audio equipment that will really benefit our patients. As a music fanatic I can't wait to see and hear the new equipment being used!'
Huge thanks to Jonathan and to all our Brighton Marathon 2018 runners, you're amazing! Anyone feeling inspired by this should know we've got places in the 2019 event! Get in touch!
