Heads On NHS Big Tea Celebrations

The 5th July marked the NHS 73rd birthday and saw NHS charities nationally celebrating NHS staff for all their incredible work over the pandemic.

At Heads On, we held a number of different initiatives throughout the day. We even saw three Sussex Partnership Foundation Ttrust (SPFT) members of staff, chosen for going above and beyond during the pandemic, treated to afternoon tea at Buckingham palace!

It was lovely to help make staff feel appreciated and special after an extremely difficult past 18 months.

Old Skool Bus at Brighton General Hospital

Thank you so much to the Old Skool Bus who came down to the Community Mental Health centre in Brighton to help celebrate the NHS Big Tea with us by giving out free cake and drinks to SPFT staff! There were cakes, pies (kindly provided by Al the Pieman), tea and masses of smiles as people celebrated the NHS’ birthday.

SPFTs very own Badgers café and Millview Hospital café participated in the event, selling cakes to raise money for Heads On.

Mayo Wynne Baxter

Mayo Wynne Baxter held their own NHS Big Tea, catching up with a cuppa and homemade bakes over zoom to celebrate!

Nationwide Lewes

Nationwide, Lewes also held their own NHS Big Tea celebrations by carrying out a raffle to staff and customers.
Social media campaign

Social Media campaign

Due to the pandemic, we sadly couldn’t run our usual cakes and bakes sale. We went digital instead and ran a ‘Take 5, donate 5, nominate 5’ campaign throughout the day, encouraging people to take 5 minutes out of their day to have a cuppa and a slice of cake, donate £5 to Heads On and nominate 5 friends to do the same.

Thank you to everyone, including Worthing FC, who took part in the campaign!

Free staff prize draw

We decided to show our outpouring of love for every SPFT member of staff by running a randomised free prize draw for all members of staff across the trust. Whilst we would love to give a treat to all staff members, the sheer number of SPFT staff makes this task near impossible, so we decided to surprise a number of different staff members.

We were so fortunate with so many local shops and establishments donating us some amazing NHS Big tea related prizes. These included tea and biscuit hampers from Morrisons, afternoon tea vouchers donated by the Grand Brighton and Eastbourne and tea/coffee and cake packages from the Coop. To all of businesses that supported Heads On in this initiative, thank you so much!

Sending the prizes out as a surprise to staff members was a great success. One member of staff said:
‘The prize was lovely and I was surprised and touched to be a winner in my final week working on contract for the Trust.’

Heads On were so pleased to be able to treat some members of staff, who have been working tirelessly to get everyone through the pandemic. We are so grateful for all those who donated prizes and gifts to help us facilitate this opportunity.
