East Sussex Rehabilitation Pathway Allotment project
This month, Heads On were fortunate enough to be invited to East Sussex Rehabilitation Pathways ‘The Future is Green’ allotment project. It was amazing to see the progress and work done by ESRP staff and clients since Heads On funded the project back in 2019.
All the hours of hard work at the allotment has certainly paid off- beautiful flowers, herbs, vegetables and fruit (made into jam as shown!). The team are also planning a sensory garden at the top of the site, a space to relax and enjoy the great outdoors.
Sophie, an occupational therapist at ESRP, said:
"Having the allotment space for our service is something quite special, it gives opportunities for service users - (as well as staff) to have time in the outdoors, to learn new skills, to meet people, to have structure in the week. It gives hope for the future as we are planning what to grow next or develop on the plot or waiting for the vegetables or flowers. It gives opportunity for staff to see service users in a different environment, away from a clinical setting, where we can all learn together."
Fantastic to see Heads On funding in action and used in such a fruitful (if you pardon the pun!) and inspiring way!
